Jim Volgarino’s four-page feature on Tom Donney’s two-stroke Saab Sonett II land-speed program at the Bonneville Salt Flats. At the 2016 Bonneville Speed Week the Sonett set a class record of 123.075 MPH — raised to 123.265 two days later — and Steve Myers, part of the Donney team, earned his rookie license and broke a record himself, with GPS speed measures showing the little Saab hitting the 124 MPH mark.
