Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car’s February 2017 issue tells the story of Tom Donney’s two-stroke Saab Sonett II land-speed car at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Steve Myers was part of the Donney team at the 2016 Bonneville Speed Week, where the Sonett set a class record of 123.075 MPH — raised to 123.265 MPH two days later — and Steve earned his Bonneville rookie license and broke a record himself, with GPS speed measures showing the little Saab hitting the 124 MPH mark.
From the article:
“They were able to allow Steve Meyers [sic] to obtain his rookie license and break a record. According to GPS speed measures, the little Sonett did hit the 124 MPH mark, so, even without the new setup, the Saab pushed the record even higher.”
