The Ford Model T was produced from 1908 to 1927 — over 15 million built — and remains the car that put the world on wheels. A 177 cu. in. four-cylinder L-head engine, two-speed planetary transmission, transverse leaf springs at both ends, and (on early cars) flywheel-magneto ignition with no battery. Later cars added a battery, generator, and Bendix-drive starter motor.
The two documents below cover different periods of the Model T’s production run. The General Data page is from The Model “T” Chassis — Detailed Engineering Specifications, 1926–27, published by the Ford Motor Company Archives Department, and reflects the improved-era car. The Wiring Diagrams page covers the 1915–16 magneto-only electrical system — a much simpler car than the later starter-equipped models.
