The Austin-Healey Sprite was introduced in 1958 as an affordable, fun sports car. Designed by Donald Healey and built by BMC, the original Mark I — nicknamed the “Frogeye” or “Bugeye” — featured a 948 cc A-Series engine producing 43 bhp. Its simple, lightweight construction and eager handling made it one of the most popular entry-level sports cars of its era. Production continued through four marks until 1971.
