Garrett Long’s coverage of the NASA Central Region round 2 at Mid-America Motorplex — the second event of 2014 — where Steve Myers, in his Panoz, finished second in Super Touring 1 (ST1) in both weekend races: first in Saturday’s dry race after an epic three-car power-vs.-handling battle, and again on Sunday in a rain-shortened race that was eventually stopped early due to lightning, thunderstorms, and paddock flooding.

“Sam Mangiameli won ST1 in his rotary-powered Diasio by a large margin after great three-car battle between Mark Kirby and Steve Myers. Kirby led most of the way till an off dropped him to third behind Myers. It was an epic battle of power vs. handling!”
